When I decided to pursue my master’s in administration online with University of Phoenix, I was concerned that the lack of face-to-face time in the classroom might make it difficult to have an authentic learning experience. But my learning team experiences changed that. One of the greatest things about the program was working with a global mix of people from all over the world. It added a great perspective and dynamic to the class.
I really like the split internship, too. Having three class experiences spread out over the course of my entire program gave me the opportunity to absorb and focus on specific skills and tasks throughout. I worked with a great mentor principal and the support from University of Phoenix was great in making the experience beneficial. I think the entire program was well balanced and orchestrated. The content and instruction worked well with the class structure and dynamics of both the individual and team aspect. Building the electronic portfolio worked well to pull everything together.

After earning a bachelor’s in biology, I decided I wanted to become a teacher. The master’s in education program at University of Phoenix provided the flexibility I needed as a military spouse. The learning team experience helped me become more patient and honest with myself about my weaknesses and strengths and how I can better contribute to something. When I participated in my first teacher work day, I was not afraid to speak out and contribute what I learned in my program. The instructors put in a lot of time and effort to get us ready for the real world of teaching. I felt prepared to embark on student teaching and do well. After completing my student teaching, I felt confident and able to start my new career.

After earning my bachelor’s in bible/theology, I felt led to work with kids, especially the ones many labeled as lost causes. I began looking into other ways to earn certification and within a few weeks started my Master of Arts in Education/Cross-Categorical Special Education program at University of Phoenix. While my classes were starting, I received an emergency teaching certificate and began teaching students affected by learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders. The University of Phoenix program was flexible so I was able to do my student teaching while working at the same high school. I had a great learning environment and experience, while still working to support my family. It was a phenomenal experience. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Still, the most valuable part of the program was the interaction with other teachers. I was one of many University of Phoenix students taking classes while already teaching full time. I have learned so much from both the faculty and other students in the program, which has helped me to become a success both in and outside the classroom.
